TB Vets – A Legacy for British Columbians was created in honour of our veteran heritage and the veterans and their families who still provide the leadership and vision for our organization. The tradition of service – serving our country, providing the key return service, and funding vital community services – continues to this day.
Voiced by BC's own Mike McCardell, this commemorative 15 minute video tells the story of how TB Vets began, what we do for the people of BC, and our goals for the future.
Imagine, if you will, the joy and relief felt by all at the end of World War II. Soldiers coming home, families reunited. But all was not well for the veterans who returned from overseas service with tuberculosis and other respiratory ailments. Forced to remain in hospital, sometimes for years, and unable to hold down a regular job, these veterans founded TB Vets and created BC's original key return service.
Hear from veterans themselves how donations to TB Vets Keytag Program provided a modest wage and, when the donations increased beyond their requirements, funding for respiratory equipment and tuberculosis research. Hear stories of support and survival from British Columbians helped thanks to your support.
