A Tribute to an Inspiring Leader:
Lynda Skipworth, 1946 -- 2008
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lynda Skipworth, TB Vets Director, former Board Chair, dedicated volunteer, passionate advocate and personal friend to everyone at TB Vets. Lynda passed away on September 8, while on a trip to Ottawa. She had recently become president of the Royal Canadian Legion TVS (Tuberculous Veterans Sections), and was traveling on business. It so perfectly exemplifies Lynda’s character that her last act was volunteering selflessly to help the cause she believes in.
Lynda Skipworth was a long-time member of the TB Vets Association. Lynda was the first female Chair of TB Vets, and worked tirelessly on many of our committees. Lynda’s father, Jack Banner, inspired her passion for the Legion and TB Vets. Jack had been a Radio Officer with the Merchant Navy.
Lynda is survived by her husband Clarence “Skip” Skipworth, her son Kevin, his wife Sarah and their son, her son Darryl, his wife Heather and their children, and stepdaughter Janine, her husband Don and their two daughters.
Lynda was a tremendous force within TB Vets. Her knowledge, leadership, expertise and enthusiasm are irreplaceable. She was a great friend to everyone on staff, and her kind heart will be sorely missed.The work that Lynda Skipworth did to help TB Vets grow and improve will never be forgotten.
