Russell Howcroft was a WWII veteran, and a former member of the TB Vets board of directors. He passed away on October 8, 2007. He will be missed.
Russell was born in Vancouver in the 1920s. He grew up during a time of scarcity, but he always remained true to the moral teachings of his parents, John and Esther Howcroft.
During World War II, Russell joined the Navy, and served as a stoker on the H.M.C.S. Border Cities.
Russell spent 60 years with his wife, Timmey. Together, they had four children and eight grandchildren. Russell's family was the most important thing in his world. He also delighted in his cats and his gardens.
Russell retired in 1986, but kept busy with volunteer work. He volunteered with many organizations: BC/Yukon Pacific Command, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #44, The Naval Veterans Association, TB Vets Charitable Foundation, and the BC Cancer Association.
