As recognition of our contribution to the people of British Columbia, we were proud to celebrate the 2nd Annual TB Vets Day on March 4, 2009. Because our 2008 event was so successful, we again invited local elementary school students from the area to come learn about respiratory health and a little about what we do.

A lot happens here at our organization, as the elementary students discovered. The different groups began their tours by first learning a bit about respiratory illnesses and related issues. Respiratory specialists taught the children about different aspects of breathing, and how difficult this everyday necessity can be for someone who has asthma. One exercise--trying to breath through a straw obstructed by a marshmallow--had some children amazed that there are people who have to suffer with such difficulty every day of their lives.
The next stop on the tour found the children downstairs, where all of our mailing, discs, ribbons, and engraving takes place. Aside from seeing the myriad number of machines and contraptions in action, the students met with many of our employees. The students, through an interpreter, talked to several of our deaf employees and learned about different facets of their jobs.
In the end, we hope the students returned to their schools not only with knowledge of what we do here at TB Vets, but more importantly about the people we strive to help live better lives. Please help show your support today by making a donation here.
