TB Vets Youth Keytag Contest

Competition Details
For 63 years, TB Vets has provided a key return service to British Columia. Donations to our Keytag Campaign let us put almost $500,000 worth of respiratory equipment in BC hospitals every year. We need your help to design a youth keytag, which will illustrate the idea: TB Vets—Helping BC Breathe. The winning entry will receive a $500 scholarship.
The winning keytag design will be offered in limited numbers, as a Special Edition Youth Keytag, available though www.tbvets.org for the month of March, 2009.
Deadline for Submissions
All entries must be postmarked on or before December 1, 2008.

Who Can Enter?
To enter, you must be a student in Grades 8–12 in a public, independent or alternative school (including home-schooled or hospital-bound students) anywhere within British Columbia.
Only one entry per student is allowed.
What do I draw?
- Your design can be created on paper, or on the computer.

- The final printed keytag will be 7/8” wide by 2 ¾” high. A simple design will reproduce best at that size.
- Every design must allow the “A12345” to be clearly readable. This is our special code, which allows us to return keys. Designs in which the keytag number is not readable will be disqualified, at the sole discretion of the judges.
- TB Vets’ mission is to help BC breathe. What does that mean to you? What does that look like? Your design should interpret “TB Vets—Helping BC Breathe” in a way that speaks to you.
- All submissions must be mailed. If you have an electronic copy of the design, we will ask you for a copy of it if you are the winner.
What are the judges looking for?
A panel of volunteer judges will select 10 finalists. These finalists will be posted on www.tbvets.org in January. Teens are invited to vote for their favourite design. The winner will be the design with the most votes on February 14, 2009. Winners will be announced March 4, 2009.
When picking the 10 finalists, judges will be asking themselves:
- Is this design eye-catching?
- Does this design illustrate the idea, “TB Vets—Helping BC Breathe”?
- Is the keytag number clearly legible?
- Will this design attract youth?
How do I submit my entry?
1. Create your design. Electronic designs must be printed out.
2. Complete the entry form.
3. Mail or deliver your design and entry form to:

If you are a teacher submitting multiple entries, please make sure each submission has an entry form attached.
What is the prize?
The winning entry, as decided by on-line voting, will receive a $500 scholarship from TB Vets. The scholarship money will be given out upon proof of the winner’s registration in an accredited post-secondary institution.
How will I know if I am a finalist?
The ten finalists will be revealed on www.tbvets.org/youth.php on January 10, 2009. Voting will be open for six weeks, and will close on February 14, 2009. The winner will be announced on March 4, 2009.
