Be a Part of the Solution
The COVID-19 pandemic has put in perspective just how essential it is to have access to life-saving respiratory equipment. With your help, TB Vets is committed to providing more ventilators to BC’s frontline. This is critical not only in helping save lives of COVID-19 patients, but also so many others’— women are still having babies, children are still getting ill with other ailments and injured adults still need help.
Now more than ever, frontline medical heroes need the support of TB Vets donors like you.
Our Fundraising Goal
About 6% of COVID-19 cases in Canada have required admission to an ICU. And while some 80% are mild, the COVID-19 virus can cause pneumonia, which interferes with the ability of oxygen to get in through the lungs, and into the bloodstream. Unless they’re failing, patients are given all the oxygen they need without putting them on a breathing machine. But the majority are failing.
Critically ill patients need to have a tube put down their throat and a ventilator to help them breathe. A ventilator does two things: it provides oxygen as well as pressure to open up the air sacs in the lungs to get oxygen in, and carbon dioxide out.
For 75 years, TB Vets has been providing respiratory equipment to BC hospitals. The COVID-19 crisis has us doubling our efforts to address the changing needs of our frontline medical heroes. When you give to TB Vets’ COVID-19 campaign, you help provide these ventilators to the following BC hospitals:
The Hamilton T1 machine is compact and designed for maximum ease in its use on site, for inter-hospital transfers or during a patient’s transport to higher levels of care.
The Hamilton G5 machine provides the frontline with the latest in technology, including a visual ventilation cockpit and alerts on critical changes in a patient’s condition.
