At Langley Memorial Hospital, Respirologist Dr. Rita Wittmann sees firsthand how frightening and disruptive respiratory illness can be for patients and families. Adults who suddenly struggle to climb a flight of stairs. Children who can no longer keep up with their friends. Families searching for answers while living with fear, uncertainty, and worsening symptoms.
For many patients, specialized lung function testing is the critical first step toward diagnosis and treatment.
Using Langley Memorial’s plethysmography unit — commonly referred to as a “Body Booth” — Dr. Wittmann and her team can assess lung function, identify respiratory conditions, and help patients begin the care they urgently need.
When breathing becomes difficult, every part of life is affected.
Langley Memorial currently has only one Body Booth available to serve the entire growing community. While the respiratory clinic works tirelessly to support between 25 and 35 patients each week, demand continues to skyrocket—leaving some patients waiting up to two years for essential testing.
For someone struggling to breathe, two years is far too long.
Delays in diagnosis can mean worsening symptoms, reduced quality of life, and in some cases, permanent loss of lung function. Earlier testing leads to earlier treatment, better outcomes, and renewed hope for patients and their families.

This is why TB Vets is stepping up. We are partnering with Langley Memorial Hospital to help fund a second Body Booth, dramatically increasing access to life-changing respiratory testing and slashing wait times for people throughout the community.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 to make this a reality—and thanks to TB Vets, every donation you make today will be matched dollar for dollar up to $50,000!
